A time for healing

Well it was good to sleep in my own bed last night...despite getting up every three hours to pump! But the good news is that Aiden now has milk so today we're going to focus on nutrition to help him get stronger.

I called in throughout the night to see how he's doing. He had a pretty good night. The two labs that we were worried about that indicate tissue damage (troponin and lactate) were both lower. He's still on the ventilator, sedated and paralyzed but resting. Of course there's a but... the catheter that they used for this heart catherization has caused some limited blood flow to his foot. They had to start him on a blood thinner and are using warm compresses to get the pulse in his foot back. They tell us that this is not that uncommon and that it should be OK. So we'll say our prayers for his foot today. :)

It has been interesting recovering from labor in a public place. I tote around a breast pump like it's an appendage. There are two rooms available for me to pump in. Although, you never know when you're going to walk in and see someone else already pumping! I've gotten creative and even pumped in Jeff's new Escape Hybrid with the A/C outlet (nice feature Jeff!). Still taking a couple percosets. If nothing else, they help me to sleep. All things considered, I feel pretty good. I just can't wait to get my little boy home. Today we're taking in some baby books to read to him and some Baby Einstein music for him to listen to on the iPod.

Jeff will keep you updated later. Thanks for all your prayers and warm wishes. Seeing the huge circle of followers gives us strength each day.
